Grind Coffee has partnered with Bootstrap Compost to make our coffee programs even more eco-friendly
An estimated 16 billion pounds of coffee are grown globally every year. That is a whole lot of coffee! Grind Coffee carefully selects coffee from across the world and roasts hundreds of pounds each week in Wilmington, MA, to bring the freshest coffee to offices across New England. Since Grind Coffee launched in 2016, we have designed our coffee programs to be as sustainable as possible. Part of that includes shortening the supply chain and making it a breeze for clients to make greener choices.
Grind Coffee starts with sustainable coffee
Grind Coffee came about after launching LeanBox in 2014. Many clients asked if we offered coffee because of their dissatisfaction with the markets offering of delicious, convenient, and environmentally friendly coffee programs (pretty much non-existent). Whether it is our single-serve solution or batch brewer, Grind Coffee only offers whole-bean coffee. This removes plastic waste from the equation and highlights the quality of the flavor in our fresh beans. Since we spend so much time carefully sourcing coffee beans to roast the perfect batch, it got us thinking, how can we make our coffee programs even better by making them even more sustainable?
Turning coffee grounds into fertile garden ground
In our commitment to being environmentally responsible, Grind Coffee has partnered with a local company, Bootstrap Compost! Our partnership is the first of its kind in Boston, which we think is pretty revolutionary! Bootstrap will transform used office coffee grounds into rich soil for local schools and community gardens in the Greater Boston Area. Bootstrap Compost has been collecting compost here for over 7 years and has helped to divert over 2 million pounds of waste from the landfill. They are stepping up to make it easy for you and your office to have a positive effect on the environment every day with your post-caffeination coffee grounds.
Get involved with the composting program!
All Grind Coffee programs yield compostable products. Bootstrap Compost will provide your office with neat composting containers, weekly pick-up, data on how you’re helping the planet and possibly even shares of ready compost for the green thumbs in your office! They service the Greater Boston Area and recently launched in Providence, RI. If you are feeling extra inspired, they even offer residential pickup options.
